Chimney Rock is a huge 315-foot granite outcropping in Chimney Rock State Park. It is 2,280 feet above sea level and has a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains that is unmatched. In fact, you can see for 75 miles in all directions from the top, including the Hickory Nut Gorge & Lake Lure, which is close by. Even though the climb to the top is moderately hard, it is easy enough for kids to do and the views are worth it.
The most popular national park in the United States is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, that is in both North Carolina and Tennessee. Cades Cove is the most popular place in the park because it is close to many natural wonders, such as Clingmans Dome & the Oconaluftee Valley.
This peaceful valley with beautiful mountains in the background is a great place to see turkeys, bears, coyotes, and other animals. A one-way road loops around the whole area for 11 miles, so give yourself time to see everything & get your camera ready.
Food loss is when food gets spilled, spoiled, or lost in some other way, or when its quality or value goes down during its journey through the food supply chain before it gets to the final product stage. In the food supply chain, food loss usually happens during the production, post-harvest, processing, & distribution stages.
Food waste is food that makes it all the way through the food supply chain and is good quality and ready to eat, but doesn’t get eaten because it is thrown away, whether or not it has been left to go bad or expire. In the food supply chain, food waste happens most often (but not always) at the retail and consumption stages.
Poor waste management makes climate change & air pollution worse and hurts many ecosystems & species directly. Landfills, which are at the bottom of the waste hierarchy, give off methane, which is a very strong greenhouse gas linked to climate change.
